- Style to me is all about grace, kindness and individuality. I want my design to fit all bodytypes and women. Style is ageless, says Creative Director of SOOHIA, Anne Sofie Falkenaas. Inspired by Morocco, she has created a beautiful collection of luxury kaftans, dresses, blouses and belts. Envelope met up with the norwegian designer in her appartment in Oslo.

Tell us the story behind SOOHIA. How did it start? I have since I was a teenager designed my own clothes. Clothes that I couldn`t find in Oslo or places I was traveling. Since my childhood I have always had my own style. Some years ago I lived in Vietnam for a period, in a town where they where specializing in tailoring. Every day I was designing new pieces and loved it! When I came home and used my dresses, shirts, bags etc, friends really liked it and wanted me to make pieces to them. Then 2 years ago I was in Marrakech in the garden of YSL, Jardine de Majorelle. I was so inspired and it came clear to me that I had to start to make some beautiful dresses as a art projects. I made a little collection last year and showed it to a few stylists, bloggers, agents and magazines. They really liked it and I had very good responds. Since then, SOOHIA has been featuring in various magazines, styled by editors, bloggers and famous female singers in Norway.
2) Where do you collect youre inspiration. My inspiration comes from wanting to create beauty, purity and pieces that I see women love to wear. I want to create pieces that I miss and want to wear myself. Then it's beauty, nature, people, family, personalities, books, films, architecture, traveling, Asia, different cultures, materials like silk, cotton and embroideries. I love to source and find the best qualities in silks, cottons and brocades.
3) What was the first piece you ever designed? The first one that I really remember was a bathing suit and a mini dress in white/cream that I crochet. I was about 16 years old. I was so happy and felt so well and beautiful in that outfit, together with my hot orange boots I bought in Spain. This was in the 80 ties.
4) What kind of women do you want to see in your design. I want all women in all ages to wear my design. The collection is designed to fit all ages and body types, I want to create timeless pieces that women feel beautiful, feminine and elegant in. It is so nice to see that women in all ages like my design. From young girls to beautiful mature women. I'm so thankful and love what I'm doing!
5) What is Style toyou? Style and elegance comes from inside and can not be bought. It's grace, kindness, individuality and its ageless.
