Envelope by Celine Aagaard

What inspired you to create and launch Double Trouble?

I have been working in the fashion industry since my late teens. I started out as a Buyer, before moving into PR where I have been for the past six years. I am very lucky in that I’ve been able to experience different aspects of business in the fashion world. I have learnt such incredible things in each of my roles and it has all been so valuable in the formation of Double Trouble.

You can always find me in an oversized t-shirt or sweater and I am obsessed with anything personalised so it really stemmed from there. I am a huge fan of pop-cultue and one night I had the thought of combining those elements to be a brand. I wanted to create something that was fun and had a personality! Double Trouble is for the girl gang movement of today with a tongue in cheek, heart on the sleeve personality that packs a punch.

Tell us shortly the "Story"

Double Trouble is a line of embroidered t-shirts and sweaters for heartbreakers. The brand is a celebration of pop-culture references, movie quotes and girl power anthems. Double Trouble is your sartorial partner in crime, the peaches to your cream, the apple of your eye and the best friend to your girl gang.

Have you ever been in Double Trouble?

Oh goodness, definitely - too many times to count!

What inspires your design?

The 80s/90s I grew up in the 90’s and I just love the pop-culture of that era - it is a huge source inspiration when coming up with new designs. It was the decade of supermodels, great fashion, Clueless and the love story of Johnny Depp and Kate Moss - what’s not to love!

How many different sweaters have you made?

We currently have six sweaters and twelve t-shirts available with more coming soon. In addition to our collection we also offer custom embroidery, so you can have something special made just for you!

Your favorite fashion icons that inspires you?

Oh my goodness there are so many. You can’t go past Kate Moss - from the nineties to now she always looks amazing. Pandora Sykes’ style is so cool it hurts. Blanca Miro is a huge style crush of ours - hot diggity damn can we have her entire wardrobe please. You can’t go past Diane Keaton in any Woody Allen film - what a bonafide style icon.

How does the collection reflect your personal style?

You can always find me in a tee or sweater with a pair of vintage jeans, so a huge part of what my style is, is Double Trouble. I’m a huge fan of the off duty model look - relaxed but a tad polished at the same time.

Any favorite pieces from the line you always wear?

I am always in one of our jumpers or t-shirts. My all time favourites would have to be the Lover T-Shirt and The Lonely Hearts Club Sweater.

Is there anyone in particular you would like to see wearing your design? We get so excited when we see images on social media of girls from all over the world wearing Double Trouble. Celebrity wise, you can’t go past Gigi Hadid - that would be a pinch me moment.

Any tips on how to easily style an outfit with clothes from your collection? The beauty of the brand is you can wear it casually or dress it up! For casual day to day, pair one of our tees or jumpers with some vintage Levi’s, a pair of Spring Court sneakers and a cool bag - we’re loving the new Gucci love heart printed ones! For night time, partner Double Trouble with leather trousers, killer heels and a bold lip. You’ll be double the trouble and twice as nice!

What is style to you?

Style to me is wearing what you are comfortable in. If you don’t love what you’re wearing you won’t feel great, so it’s important to dress for you and wear want you want! It isn’t in trying to emulate exactly what you see on the runway - you have to have your personality injected in your outfit!

What trends do you believe in for AW16?

We love the polished casual look that’s everywhere at the moment. It’s all about the off-duty supermodel look of the nineties.

3 keypieces for fall?

A Double Trouble Sweater, a pair of ReDone jeans and red lipstick Lady Danger by MAC Cosmetics is a must have.

Do you remember the first piece your designed?

It all started with the Lover T-Shirt. You can’t go past a classic white t-shirt and I love the pop of colour the red ‘lover’ embroidery brings.

Any double Trouble films to recommend? Closer, Pretty Woman, Clueless, Working Girl and Manhattan.

Where to go and what do in UK

Where do you get your coffee ? The Attendant. It’s a speakeasy for coffee and is tiny but they have the best coffee in London and photos from the 90’s adorn the walls. It couldn’t be any better if it tried!

Where do you eat? This is hard - I love food so much! Homelice in Soho - the best pizza,  Patty and Bun for the best burgers, and Pavilion in Victoria Park - for the best breakfasts.

Where do you go out ? The Ace Hotel Bar and Happiness Forgets

Where would you recommend people to visit ? For art the National Gallery and Saatchi Gallery. For plays, the Donmar Warehouse. For shopping, you can’t go past Selfridges or Liberty - the best department stores!
