Fashion students Iselin Hansen and Stine Ripegutu wanted to create a platform open to express and challenge them in a creative way. Together with nine other fashion students they will publish one self-designed item every day for a whole year. We interviewed the founders about the project and some of the other students about their design.

What is the idea behind Prject356?
– Prject365 is a project where we will post a self-made clothing design on our Instagram account, every day for a whole year. This is a platform where we as young and new designers have the opportunity to promote our self and show the world what we can do. We also emphasize that this is a place where we can find our own expressions as a designer.

How did it start?
– It started out with the fact that we just wanted to get better at sewing. Then we found out that we should try to sew one item every week for a whole year. Later we saw the opportunity to expand this idea and decided to share it with the class. They liked the project and then we started off in April this year.

What do you think is so great about this project?
– There are very few, if none, platforms where design students have the opportunity to show what they create. We decided to take the matter in our own hands, and create a place where we can show our work and at the same time develop in a creative way. It is also meant for us to just have fun with this project, and help each other!

Hanna Othilie Romberg Marthinsen (20)

What is the idea behind this design?
– I wanted to create a pretty and more interesting white sweater. Split sleeves have also inspired me lately and therefore I wanted to have that feature in both arms and up the sides of the sweater. Because of the length and the high neck, the sweater still keeps a “classy” look without being to vulgar.

Why did you want to be a part of Prject365?
– I thought the concept an idea was really exciting. I also wanted to show my designs and promote it together with other young and great designers.

How do you wish to work as a designer in the future?
– For many years my dream has always been to start my own clothing line, and that is something I still will work to achieve. I also want to focus on a more sustainable attitude to fashion.

Mariann Ryen (19)

What is the idea behind this design?
– The thought behind this design was to create something new. I got inspired by the blogger Sophie Elise and fashion in the 1950s and 1960s, even though it may not look like it at first. The design might seem a little fragile, but the theme is really about stepping forward and being your self.

Why did you want to be a part of Prject365?
– I wanted to be a part of Prject365 because I though it was a really good initiative. It is inspiring to work with fellow students outside school, and at the same time it is a good way to challenge your self in becoming better at everything that got to do with design.

How do you wish to work as a designer in the future?
– I haven’t really thought that much about it yet. I will figure it out along the way, but what I do know is that I want to stand out.

Julie Myrvold (19)

What is the idea behind this design?
– I got the inspiration for this jacket from my muse Amelia Earhart. She was the first female pilot and the first to fly solo over the Pacific Ocean. I gathered inspiration from her pilot jackets, and at the same time I tried to give it a bit more modern and extreme look with the big arms.

Why did you want to be a part of Prject365?
– Instagram is such a great platform to show your passion. It is so much fun feeling that you are creating something together, even though what we make is so different.

How do you wish to work as a designer in the future?
– The biggest dream is to have my own brand where I can ensure an ethical and righteous production. At the same time I would have an artistic freedom to create exactly what I wanted.
